We did not intend to stay in Port Alberni

but as we drove past, we liked the sign and the house itself. Our first impression turned out right - we enjoyed the cosy atmosphere, the garden & hot tub, the quietness, the boat excursion on the Lady Rose to the Broken Group Islands and the whales. We took some great pictures!

The Hummingbird truly deserves its name

We found the Hummingbird by chance on our way to Long Beach. We were a bit reluctant to stay at a B&B because we'd had an unpleasant experience the night before at a B&B in Victoria. For this reason, we first asked to see the rooms before committing to stay. We were immediately impressed. The rooms were as beautiful, cheerful, friendly, clean and bright as a hummingbird. We all decided to stay, we even stayed one more night than originally planned.

Superb time at the Hummingbird

The little girls thought all the "Dora" stuff was awesome. Thanks for making their holiday so memorable. Thanks also for arranging such a terrific sitter. Katie was great! We were at ease on the water knowing our girls were in good hands. The accommodations were excellent! Our family was able to stay together and we all had our own little space away from each other. The fishing was great. Jody will be bragging about the 48 lb halibut for a long time. Grandma & Grandpa love it...and us kids were thrilled with the comforts of the Hummingbird. Thanks for going the extra mile to make our annual fishing trip such a success.

for all the little welcome touches. River Road walkway is beautiful for early morning walks. I enjoyed every minute.

The tail of our holiday in Canada

We couldn't have had a better place to stay than right here. The welcoming kitty and a hot tub! Today we saw the salmon jumping up the river and two bears just across the river right here on River Rd. What a great day! I love the king bed, what a pity we can only stay one night.

Absolutely impressed with our surroundings

My fiance and our 2 boys came for the night. We played Bocci ball and horseshoes. Enjoyed the hot tub and the relaxing atmosphere. Wayne was so friendly and warm - he searched for colouring books for my 4 yr old at 10 pm. I will always be a great memory for the 4 of us.

A Great Stay!

We've made it home to Islamoranda, Florida Keys, and were thinking of the great time we had in Port Alberni. The Lady Rose was a wonderful adventure and one that will always be remembered. We took your advice and visited the Little Qualicum Falls and the Stamp Falls, watched the salmon go through the ladder and saw our first, wild, black bear. We also hugged the majestic old trees in Cathedral Grove. Ron & I got to see the Island from Victoria up to Port Hardy/Telegraph Cove. Everything was spectacular, however, our time at Hummingbird Guesthouse was the best find on the whole Island. Your graciousness and hospitality, the most comfortable stay in the Fireside Room, and expert knowledge of the area insured our stay nothing less than the best.
